MEDELLIN, COLOMBIA TRIP – JULY 2021
Latina Leaders went to Colombia! We are determined to leave a legacy of leaders around the world. On July 2021, my daughter and I traveled to Medellin, Colombia to speak to a group of women about leadership. I have partnered up with an amazing organization Mujer Talento whose mission is to transform women’s lives that are escaping domestic violence, prostitution, drugs, human trafficking and poverty. This organization mentors and teaches these women skills needed to get back into the workforce and empowers them to be entrepreneurs. They teach women how to sew and design clothes, so that they are able to work in the fashion district of the city. However, due to the pandemic, they had to close the center where they met and gave sewing lessons. Because Medellin is opening up again, they are ready to begin the sewing classes and preparing the women for a new beginning.
We were able to bless these group of women by bringing donations of money and clothes. Right now, the organization needs $35K to be able to rent a new center for the ladies to meet and continue their sewing lessons. The funds that I will be raising will go to:
- the rental of the space for the sewing classes
- sewing supplies
- fabric
- cleaning supplies
- toilet paper
- hand soap
- hand sanitizer
- uniforms for the mentees
- laptops
- office supplies
- food
These are just some of the things they need to get back up and running strong as they were before the pandemic hit Medellin.
I am asking, first, for your prayers and second, for financial donations to bless these women. This is my heart and calling from God, which is to help those in need and bring hope to the lost. Please donate any amount that the Lord puts in your heart. Our goal is $35,000 U.S. dollars. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers, support and donations.
